Determined to start a new project after the relative successes of previous projects, (Every Move a Picture and The High Violets) Allen Davis and Clint Sargent formed Starry Saints. The idea was to be a confluence of noise, pop and song-craft.
Starry Saints are a carefully crafted dichotomy: they are big without being indulgent and take a low-fi and high-fi approach at the same time. While their recorded output definitely illustrates their considerable studio skills and sophistication, Starry Saints are best experienced live. The twin guitar assault, melodic bass lines, and swirly synth motifs that underpin Davis’s enigmatic and passionate vocals is truly an intoxicating and riveting experience.
